Eclat Chocolate is proud to introduce Peruvian Pure Nacional, thought to be an extinct cacao. These exquisite jewels, sourced from ancient origins of Pure Nacional out of the Marañón Canyon in Peru, offer an intense floral, fruity and nutty flavor that is unparalleled.
Pure Nacional once dominated the fine chocolate market worldwide, but in 1916, diseases struck the Pure Nacional population in Ecuador and within three years 95% of the trees were destroyed. This prized chocolate was thought to be lost, until it was recently rediscovered growing in Peru. With indigenous trees growing football-shaped cacao pods filled with a rare mix of purple beans and extremely rare white beans, Pure Nacional is fermented, dried, and roasted differently than any other type of cacao.
